Westside Christian Church

What We believe...

  • We Believe in one God–Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Matthew 3:16–17; John 14:9–10
  • We Believe God is the creator of man and all things.  Genesis 1:1; Acts 17:24–28
  • We Believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son and Savior of the world.John 3:16; Matthew 1:18; John 20:24–31
  • We Believe the Holy Spirit dwells within every Christian. John 16:5–15
  •  We Believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for all matters of faith. Romans 15:4; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16
  • We Believe that man, created by God, willfully sinned, and as a result, is lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:7
  • We Believe salvation (the forgiveness of sins) comes by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ (His death on the cross). Matthew 26:28; Romans 5:8–11; Ephesians 2:8–9
  • We Believe the Bible teaches that the pattern to follow to receive Jesus as Savior is to believe in Christ as God's Son and Savior of the world, to repent of personal sin, to confess Christ as Lord, and to be immersed in baptism. Luke 24:45–47; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:1–7; 2 Peter 3:9
  • We Believe the church is the body and bride of Christ, founded on the day of Pentecost, consisting of all Christians everywhere. Matthew 16:13–18; Acts 2:14–47
  • We Believe it is God's plan for the elders to shepherd the local church. Acts 20:28; 1 Timothy 3:1–7; 1 Peter 5:1–4
  • We Believe death seals the eternal destiny of each person. The saved will inherit eternal life; the unsaved, eternal separation from God. Romans 8:10–11; Daniel 12:2; John 6:47

How We Operate

God and the Bible are the ultimate authority for Westside Christian Church and our local leadership consists of elders and pastors.

Westside is lead first by elders who oversee the spiritual and overall operations of the church. These are elected from among the membership because of their qualifications as found in Titus 1:6-9 and I Timothy 3:1-7.

Pastors are our second layer of leadership.   Senior Pastor Doug Baty provides leadership and day to day decision making for programs and services year round. While Youth Minister Chris Ferguson plans and leads Sunday School and Wednesday Night Services for the youth as well as youth events throughout the year. Paid office staff and volunteer teachers and leaders keep our programs and services up and running.

The church currently runs around 65-70 people and have Sunday morning and Wednesday night programs.  Our Wednesday night has a supper followed with an adult Bible study along with youth classes as well. There are around 15-20 youth, from 0-17, currently attending.

What to expect...

WELCOME

First time attending? Don't panic!

You will not be singled out, nor will you be asked to give your name if you don't want to.  Join us in our morning worship time and relax.  During our time of worship, we will have times of singing and of teaching.  Feel free to sit or stand during the singing and just be comfortable.

An offering will be taken for those who attend regularly.  This offering supports our mission to show God’s love and spread His message to the people of Parsons and around the world.  If this is your first time here, feel free to keep your wallet in your pocket.

We offer Communion every Sunday to any baptized believer who wishes to participate.  You don’t need to be a member here to join in remembering Christ’s sacrifice for us.

At the end of our service an invitation is offered.  This is an invitation to make one of several decisions.  You may want to publicly accept Christ as your savior and be baptized for the remission of sins. You may decide to serve and worship as a member, or you may feel that you want to make a public rededication of your walk with Christ.  Pastor Doug Baty will be happy to talk with you about your concerns at the front of the church during the invitation song.

A nursery is provided during our 9:30 and 10:30 events on Sunday. Children’s Church is provided for preK-3rd grade during morning worship and Sunday School.
